Grand River Hospital District the first Colorado facility to be STAR Program® Certified providing best-practices cancer rehab services to survivors
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grand River Hospital District is announcing the delivery of first-rate cancer rehab services to survivors, thanks to earning STAR Program® Certification.
Grand River Hospital District in Rifle, CO announced today that it has earned its STAR Program® Certification from the Massachusetts-based Oncology Rehab Partners, leading experts in the field of survivorship care.
Grand River’s STAR Program Certification will be the first STAR Program in the state of Colorado. Grand River Hospital is leading the way in their state by offering excellent cancer rehabilitation services to its patients through becoming STAR Program Certified.
STAR Program Certification, uniquely qualifies facilities like Grand River Hospital District to offer premium oncology rehabilitation services to survivors who suffer from debilitating side effects, caused by treatments. “For years Grand River Hospital District has been involved in fundraising activities to support cancer research. Now we have the ability to offer direct hands on treatment for the cancer survivors in our community.” stated Paul Schultz, PT, Director of Rehabilitation Services at Grand River Hospital District.
To receive its certification, Grand River Hospital District executed Oncology Rehab Partner’s unparalleled STAR Program Certification, a conventional medicine and evidence-based standardized model of oncology rehabilitation service delivery, successfully implementing the program’s evaluation and treatment protocols and rehabilitation training. These services are covered by health insurance providers and will be offered to patients by a knowledgeable and sensitive medical staff that is specially trained to work with survivors of all forms of cancer.
Specialty caregivers from a pool of disciplines–including physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dieticians, mental health professionals, etc.–will work together with each patient on a personalized rehabilitation plan to increase strength and energy, alleviate pain, and improve daily function and quality of life.
STAR Program Certification from Oncology Rehab Partners provides hospitals and cancer centers with the tools needed to quickly and effectively implement an exceptional survivorship care plan.
Oncology Rehab Partners co-founder Julie Silver, MD, assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, and herself a cancer survivor, said “I am delighted to see the commitment that Grand River Hospital District has to cancer rehabilitation by leading the way in Colorado. They are truly leaders in survivorship care.”
