Lee Memorial Health System Earns STAR Program® Certification
Regional Cancer Center to Offer New Cancer Rehab Services for Survivors
Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Myers, Florida announced today that it has earned its STAR Program® Certification from the Massachusetts-based Oncology Rehab Partners, leading experts in the field of survivorship care. Lee Memorial Health System is leading the way by offering excellent cancer rehabilitation services to its patients by becoming STAR Program Certified.
STAR Program Certification uniquely qualifies hospitals and cancer centers like Lee Memorial Health System to offer premium Oncology Rehabilitation Services to survivors who suffer from debilitating side effects caused by cancer or its treatments.
To receive its certification, Lee Memorial Health System executed Oncology Rehab Partner’s unparalleled STAR Program Certification, a conventional medicine and evidence-based standardized model of oncology rehab service delivery, successfully implementing the program’s evaluation and treatment protocols and rehabilitation training. These services are covered by health insurance providers and will be offered to patients by a knowledgeable and sensitive medical staff that is specially trained to work with newly diagnosed cancer patients, those going through treatments, and survivors of all forms of cancer. They will have the tools needed to quickly and effectively implement an exceptional survivorship care plan.
Specialty clinicians from a pool of disciplines including physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, oncology dieticians, nurse navigators, nurses, nurse practitioners, and social workers will work together on a personalized rehab plan for each patient to increase strength and energy, alleviate pain, and improve daily function and quality of life.
“The STAR Program is the gold standard in cancer rehabilitation care, says Sharon MacDonald, vice president of oncology services for Lee memorial Health System. “This certification demonstrates our commitment to developing best-practice oncology rehabilitation services that will improve the quality of care and outcomes for our patients.”
Dr. Larry Antonucci, Chief Operating Officer presented the Lee Memorial Health System STAR Certificate to Sharon MacDonald, and Dr. Jimmy Orr, Regional Cancer Center’s Medical Director. The STAR clinicians anticipate seeing patients in mid-February 2013. Contact Marie Hepp at 239.343.9511 or email@example.com for information.
